The path is surrounded by nature, seemingly entirely detached from civilization. The only sign that people have been here are the moss-covered statuettes next to the trees.
It's easy enough to turn around and return to the station, but perhaps it wouldn't hurt to explore this forest further.
Finally, you can hear all sorts of chirps around you- maybe you could find some bugs if you looked around?
